Question regarding promotions...

Sun Feb 10, 2008 1:18 am

Guys,

I'm well into my first play through of the campaign and I've got a quick question about promotions.

How do they work? I've got a large number of generals that are promotable, yet the promotion icon is greyed out. The tool tip suggests that the general should be in a different stack for a promotion, however moving the generals in question to different stacks doesn't help me at all.

Any advice on this (I'm running 1.09 these days).

"promotable: yes" - means that this general can eventually be promoted under the right circumstances (there is a model in the game for this general at a higher rank). You have to win battles with a particular general to actually enable his promotion.

Hi Scott,

Speculating a bit here since im not all clear on what exactly ur problem is. Could u be more specific?

Overall there are 3 rules about promoting.

1. General has to be promotable at all. Look at his details and it says promototable. Yes or no. This indicates only if 1 of the the below requirements is met whether he can be promoted or not. Even if meeting the below requirements.
2. Requirement 1. A general has risen 4 or more in seniorty, from original figur. If so and above is yes, he can be promoted.
3. Requirement 2. A general has senority 1 or 2. If so and above in 1 is yes, he can be promoted.

Now thats the quirks of the rules, now to quirks of interface.

Lets say u have a divisional cdr in a corps that is promotable. U have to remove him from the corps so he is an indepedant before u can promote him, cuz icon on any force is only showing the status of the commander of that particular force.

If u have a corps cdr promotable it might by looking at icons that his divisional cdrs are promotable. It actually isnt so. Cuz and reason u need to remove divisional cdr above is that the icon counts for the cdr only. In this case the corps leader. So if a corps cdr is promotable it looks, but only looks like his divisional cdrs are too.(by the highlight)
To find out if they infact are promotable. Look a their details and see if they meet above requirements. If so remove from him form the corps and his icon should be highlighted and u can promote.

Hope it helps, else ask again.

Rasmus

If you look in the top two tabs of the roster, any leader whose name is shown in red is actually promotable on the current turn.
