The road is Riverside Drive. It goes from near the National Cemetery along the river crossing Dill Branch to near the mounds and then turns westward to end at the Hamburg-Savannah road just south of Hurlburt's HQ site. It was on the auto tour until erosion caused it to be closed. The Dill Branch area was the scene of some fighting and the gunboats were anchored in the river at the mouth of Dill Branch. It is a pretty area to visit as well. To bad you have to hike there now.

EDIT: Cool! Looks like they are working to re-open the road to traffic.

Here is one interesting website with photos and the author had toured a lot of the battle field. Found it accidentally using Stumble! Upon.

Some of the best photos I have ever seen from the Civil War as well as the battlefields as they look today.

Here are a couple photos from it check it out for a lot more. Some of you might have known about it before but I never have. Very cool site!

Great pictures Gray_Lensman,

It must have some feeling to stand near all of the cannons. :)

Seeing them lined up all I can think is Gettysburg when all of the Rebs cannons were lined up
and they fired them 1 by 1 at the beginning of Pickett's Charge on Day 3

Thanks for sharing :hat: :hat:
