Delayed Commitment

I was wondering what level others play at, I use small. Does the lenght have anything to do with march to the drums? If I choose medium or long, would my chances of "march" be greater, if it has anything to do with it.

No, this alter the initial chance of finding the enemy in a region, and then once the battle has started, the chance that uncommitted formations join the fray. The march to the gun rule use another set of variables.

What would be considered 'normal' in terms of delayed commitment? why would anyone want to make the delay longer?

I think medium would be normal, according to Pocus "the chance that uncommitted formations join the fray". I don't know if this would be good or bad, this could work for or against you I suppose. I'm sure then that leader attibutes would affect this, if not could someone let me know.

I play with small delay, this leads to 0-2 days of delay in average, which is on ACW enough for me at least. But I know some prefers a longuer delay, so that there is the possibility of finishing a turn with an enemy in a region and without fight. Your milleage may vary here...

medium level: considering the size of the regions, the incredible difficulty to communicate and so get a real command and control on scatterred units, and some effects like acoustings who made some troops didn't hear sounds of a nearby battle, I find medium just more historical.
