Naval Engineers and CSA

Sat Oct 27, 2007 11:36 pm

Is there any point in recruiting Naval Engineers if you are playing CSA in 1961 Campaign as I am? I reason that I dont have the available WS to expend on Naval Units - so what is the point of recruiting units that seem to be expensive on the same supply! Only gone to Demember 1861 but otherwise holding my own on land!Losing at Sea though and heavily! There goes some more precious WS! :siffle:

Brig for blockade running.
Ironclad for protecting harbours ( and have fun!)
Gunboats to patrol rivers

Naval engineers: one or two , to place in your 2 primary active harbours. Will help to repair your few ships.

Never build anything else. It's just a waste.

Ta for the advice! I did note that I got some free Naval Engineers and picked one up when I captured Norfolk - will probably move him as it looks as I cant hold Norfolk - AI/Feds have blockaded the city and my units are getting puonded to bits there! :bonk:
Managed to get my ocean going ships out of there through the blockade. However a certain ironclad is now forming a reef! Or some other shelter for fish! :bonk: :p leure:
I also noted the free ironclads that I got! Using them as blockers on the Mississippi - dont know what to do with that Ironclad in Mobile though!
Just played into January 1862 when the Ironclad disappeared - I assume sunk by yanks somehow? :p leure:
