You can't compare AACW to RTR.
This game is set in strategic, politic, economic, historic context and strives to highlight everything in the civil war but the 3d battles which represent the core of RTW/RTR. Those are simulated after very complex and detailed mechanics and it's right where your pre-planned strategy is aimed to.
In CA environment you beat the AI turn after turn, the armies you face are always the same and in the 3d battle it's always the same story.
Here you are beaten by the AI turn after turn, and at the standard difficulty level.
