Press require results !

Tue Oct 09, 2007 12:49 pm

The event "Press require results !" fired. (I'm playing Union).

I"m surprised, at the next turn, to see that this event decrease my national moral for two points.

When the event fired, Manassas and Winchester, 2 confedarated town in Virginia, was mine.

It's very hard to lost 2 NM points whereas Manassas and Winchester was mine, without delay ! The event fired last turn only !

What was I to do to avoid that ? Taking Richmond in one turn ?

If it's the event I'm think it is, you need to get 10 units next to Richmond.

Might be a different event; I think the one I'm thinking of has a -10 NM penalty.

If no-one beats me to it, I'll dive into the event-files later today and look around. :)

Yes, this is 'the Newspapers demand a march on Richmond event'.

The penalty is 10 NM for not having 10 units adjacent to Richmond.

The newspapers and public opinion at the time were strongly in favour of a rapid end to the conflict. McDowell marched his green army, against his better judgement, to Manassas and the rest is history.

The best response for the Union imho is to accept the loss of NM and continue to develop your plan.

Or beach 10 militia units off some ships on the James..... :D

(Though I'd consider that more than a bit gamey ;) )
