What screen resolution is best for type fitting?

Sun Jul 29, 2007 6:06 am

I just bought AACW and am doing the first tutorial...the type in the boxes extend beyond the borders and overlap onto the map, making it hard to read...also some of the type on the tabs is so pixelated that it is impossible to read. I have gone from 1600 x 1200 to 1024 x 795 (or close to that) yet I still get this type problem.

I know I haven't read everything but in looking for an answer to this I have had no luck.

thanks for any help here.

This was fixed in one of the patches, IIRC? Are you using 1.06?

(Make sure to use 1.06, not 1.06a or 1.06b)

I installed the only patch from the site, 1.06. But the type still runs out of the box and regiments names and such are blocky and virtually unreadable.

Do I need to restart my computer for the new patch to kick in?

Thanks for your suggestions Rafiki.

When starting the game does it say that you are using version 1.06? Which version you are using should be in one of the corners of the screen. Make sure that you have installed the patch to the right place also, I have done the mistake to install the patch to the wrong place many times.

No, that isn't necessary.

However, as Kotik says, make sure you have gotten the patch properly installed. You can check the version number in the lower right corner of the startup screen containing the AACW-logo

I think it may something to do with font settings. your DPI should be 96dpi

Thanks to all. Yes the 1.06 appears in the lower right startup screen.

I will check my font setting to I am not certain just how that is done...but I will look around (in the control Panel?)

Thanks again. I am able to make out the informtion I need tho it is cumbersome to my aged eyes...usually the tooltip provides me with the info...but when the script window reverts to the right side of the screen then the words go out of the window so there is no way to read them then.

Again thanks to all of you trying to help me solve this. If the font size change works I will post back and let you all know

Changing the font size to 96 turned out to be the answer to my problem...displays properly now both in the windows and on the tabs.

Thanks again to all...now to learn this game.

Sure appreciate the immediacy of your responses.
