USS Michigan and Lake St Clair

I just had the USS Michigan show up in Lake St. Clair with a scouting sqdn as well. I can't get them out of Lake Erie.

I did a quick search and discovered this is a long ago problem. Has the problem been fixed or are those ships permanently patrolling Lake Erie?

It's WAD (working as designed)

The Michigan is limited to the great lakes, and it's supposed to be. I imagine that the only use you can have for it is to shell unlucky long-range CSA raiders and, God forbid, against the British if they should intervene.

The scouting squadron can be detached and then sent to the Mississippi river system via the Erie Canal.
