I would love to see the AGEOD system applied to the Byzantine-Muslim border area in eastern Turkey/northern Syria in, say, 800-1000.
The Byzantines had a pretty sophisticated doctrine of operational-level combined arms warfare: using light troops to delay an attacking army by holding critical passes, dogging its foragers with cavalry, and - if possible - pouncing upon a worn-down force. Add that to the machinations of keeping various border tribes and client states on-side, and I think it's a great scenario for a game of AGEOD's scale and focus.
