Movement?

Sun Feb 26, 2006 2:58 pm

If I understand correctly, both sides issues orders and then the CPU carries out the orders for one month of time showing the actions of both sides. Since a lot could happen in a month (i.e. enemy attacks you) and if you originally issued orders to march some where, what happens if something like this pops up? For instance, I wouldn't my army to continue to be marching if they get attacked from the rear. Does the computer smartly adjust during the course of the month by altering its orders?

Battles interfere with movement. So naturally, if an enemy enters the province of your army, your army stops IF a battle ensues.
However, stacks of units can have different stances, so it may happen that two enemy stacks are in the same province "peacefully" as both are in defensive stance. I have yet to see that in practice though. So far, either the AI or me was on the offensive. :)

So, you can adjust this "during the turn" behavior of your armies by setting their stance. (there is a total of 4)

an example of 2 armies facing one another is the Boston siege in 1775, where in fact the english army is outside Boston, entranched, and the Continental Army is surrounding it. Note also that as Boston is surrounded by enemy controled regions, the english cant move outside of it without defeating the americans.
