Razing Level 1 Forts

Mon Oct 31, 2011 3:57 pm

In a current PBEM I captured a Level 1 Fort. My troops are in good order and I am outside the fort. There are no units in the fort. There are no enemy units in the region. I am in supply.

However, I cannot raze the fort. This is the second fort on which this has occurred. The first fort WOULD let me raze it the turn after I took it.

So, the sequence is:
Turn 1: fight and take the fort
Turn 2: unable to raze
Turn 3: able to raze

Does this look right to you, and if not, what am I doing wrong?

Is your general active after taking the fort?

It happens to all of us (there is a lot of detail involved in this game).

I have a general rule of thumb. If I want Something to Happen, I check for Active status, Supply status, connections to the Homeland, Cohesion, etc.

Most of the time, all of these need to be 'in the black' for Stuff to Happen.

RULES
(A) When in doubt, agree with Ace.
(B) Pull my reins up sharply when needed, for I am a spirited thoroughbred and forget to turn at the post sometimes.

Incidentally, you can also blow up the fort with leaderless trrops. So, if your general is a lazy slob, send him off to the local bar (i.e., another stack), while the troops do all the work without him.

You can call it an inspection of other units.

You know, the local girls, the local beer, your eyelids, etc.

You know, they say General Hooker was fond of inspections.

Of course they say that Grant was fond of inspections as well.

They also say that neither visited their troops that often. ;)
