A few interface questions

Sun Jun 26, 2011 8:43 am

None major

1) in the economy screen what effect does setting the supply button to the mode where it doesn't stockpile the stuff have? Does it change how units are supplied compared with the default setting?

2)Is there any way of fine tuning the preserved food production mode (I'm not sure for instance that you desperately want NOT to preserve (say) fish but just wondered)

As an aside is it possible to see which way the F4 buttons for things like convert to preserved food is set other that clicking and looking at the effects?

3)What is causing the message about " # units are affected by lack of upkeep" (or something like that). Is this just that there isn't enough supply in the system in general

4)What do those 2 little red marks that appear on some units mean? My current guess is that it indicates a command peanlty

Thanks

1) In addition to your factories' production of the ammunition and supply trade goods, you also have on map production of ammunition and supply (note, factories are a trade good that can be converted via the F4 screen, on map is for consumtion of units only). In many situations, your on map production will be sufficient (not always) and you don't need to convert. But you'll have to test that yourself, or ask players for specific countries and situations...

2) The very reason I decided to answer these question is your mention of preserved fish. This is quite common in some cultures (Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Iceland, Norway etc.) and I guess you could even consider fish sauce commonly used in Asia as preserved fish (of a very special variety, then again, some of the other preserved fish is also left to rot ;-) ). Anyhow, no, you cannot fine tune this, conversion will use any food you have available...

3) Not sure, did you check whether all your units have adequate supply? More likely is probably that you either lack state money, manufactured goods, officers and/or conscripts (every turn some of these are used as upkeep for your armies)...

Not sure what red marks you mean. Maybe post a screenshot or explain in more debt where and what you see...

For No.3. yes , Caranorn is correct.
Units need a certain amount of manufactured goods, money , conscripts and officers each turn to keep them going. You should see a line in the messages each turn telling you how much of each is used. Just make sure that you keep this amount in reserve.
