Same here... but I don't want to wait until Friday. :(

And what kind of holiday happens in France on a May 13th, anyway? It's better be linked to WWI!

Well, I had no troubles at all, maybe I got lucky :w00t:

Just wanted to add my 2 cents:

- Personally I think that the huge improvements more than justify the price (10€) asked for the gold version. It is a fair and reasonable price to pay, IMHO
- If only a printed manual was available for purchase I would be completely happy ;) :D

Dear all,

I would like to buy this but i need to know that the MP part of the game works well and is stable. What I mean by this is that it is tried and tested and is known to work reliably without crashing.

I went through a fair amount of pain and disappointment with the first version of this trying to get various MP games going but the game continually crashed.

I would love to buy this and I am happy to wait till its fixed but I would prefer the truth; so is the MP part of the game fully tested and stable or is that really just a beta element for the time being?

Regards

Tamas and 06 Maestro are playing the 1915 campaign in MP mode without problems, actually with the beta-patch we will publish in a few days.

They reported me some losses of synchro in 1914 GC campaign related to interception and coordinate armies (all other stuff, like battles, worked perfectly, so they told). Now we are checking the patch that fixes the erratic freezes on interceptions reported by a few players, in order to verify if the MP in 1914 GC campaign works now perfectly too.

Tamas and 06 Maestro can correct me and integrate my post... ;)

Well obviously a myriad of new stuff did not help the MP code's initial stability (quite the contrary) yet there have been significant updates to this and back in the beta circles we are treating this as top priority.

I hope Calvinus will not mind me leaking this info about beta work, but the release version's (gold) MP was way too dependant on a low ping enviroment. The upcoming patch improves that drastically, and I believe we managed to narrow the situation down to a couple of bugs in complex movement war situations. So with the patch candidate we are testing, we have no trouble playing the scenarios or the trench war campaigns.

So I honestly believe that we are a patch or two away from creating a mostly stable MP enviroment, and in fact I am hoping to see an MP community forming here, because its great to play the entire Great War against a human opponent.
In the meantime, practice against the AI ;)

It is hit and miss right now. I have had some good results-paticularily with the 1915 campaign-played for about an hour through two complete turns covering all aspects of the game without any problem at all. However, the 1914 campaign has been tough with desyncing problems in the first or second military phase. The small campaigns seem to play without incident-Tannaburg and Serbia. I have done Corporetto on my LAN, but not internet-that played well on the LAN.

Although I have not a single problem with interceptions in SP mode, it has hit my game in MP mode. There seems to be something amiss with that funtion. Calvinus is aware of the MP problems and has saved games at his disposal-a possible fix will be tested soon.

We are testing this online without any VPN service. The game can connect fine by itself-with the proper router settings.

I am optomostic that it won't be long before MP funtions are squared away. I will let you know as soon as I can play the GC into mid 1915-and trench warfare without problems. At that point the MP capability should be good to go for the whole game.

Thank you Maestro, Tamas and calvinus for your useful responses, much apreciated.

It sounds like it's all but fully stable which is great news and I very much look forward to getting hold of this soon.

If possible please do make it clear in the patch notes when the remaining issue with the opening of the GC has been resolved.

Having some MP battles of this game could be awesome.

I think I will buy and practice with the AI for now.

cheers

To react on Mowers' earlier question again, the beta patch in the "help improve WW1" section contains the MP fixes we mentioned, and then some.

Maestro 06 mentioned to me that he would write some tips on router configuration for would be hosts, but normally, a port forward (of your choice, since you can set a port for the game) and an assured way through your firewall should do it.

In the meanwhile you arrange a 4-player match, the incoming 1.08D will be released as public official patch. ;)
