Best way to get started?

Sun Nov 08, 2009 10:29 pm

I have never reallyp layed AACY much, but have done the tutorials and get the basic idea. The only problem is the full campaigns are quite hard to understand :p

So what is the best way for me to get started? I'd like a long game which covers most of the games elements, whilst being fairly straight forward to play, the way things activate in the full campaign is confusing, and there is alot going on without much happening in the first months, which is historical but ruinous for my small brain ;)

Also, what is the difference between the two campaings, the one with Kentucky and without.

Thanks!!

Switch the game to easy and the AI agressiveness to passive if you want to play a big game but don't know the ropes yet. I played the tutorials and then jumped straight into the grand campaign that way. Play the regular april 1861 campaign and not the w/ky campaign to start with as it's less complicated.

Try the 1862 theater campaigns. They're fairly short and have few special events, although some quirks might remain because the 4/1861 w/KY is far and away the most popular.
There is a whole thread about the differences between "normal" and "w/KY". I don't know where it is, so I'll tell you. W/KY has delayed secession events, and KY can't even be entered until it joins the war by encroachment (whichever side builds up on the borders loses KY) or on 10/01/1861 to the Union.
