WOW! I just LOVE 3-D maps like this for my strategic games. They tell you so much, so elegantly and so realistically. Bravo! Excellent choice! I was afraid we might have a stylized "artsy" map but this is right on!

Now how often can we expect updates? Is hourly too much to ask? :D

:tournepas :)

Screenshot! :w00t:

A pretty screenshot, and a hires widescreen one at that! I usually prefer 2D maps, but I may have to rethink that now, that 3D one looks gorgeous!

Now I'm psyched. Of course, now it's time for the forumites here to see what they can infer from this image, while the devs and betas snicker to themselves about how wrong our assumptions are. :neener:

Moi aussi.

It looks like the game is playable on the terrain map. :)

It looks really, really good. Shouldn't there be a few trees to the right of the Northern Andes, though?

I was talking about the Amazon rain forest. It seemed a bit odd that it was missing, considering that there seems to be jungle west and north of the Andes. On closer inspection, though, I suppose that the Amazon might be slightly to the south of that screenshot. :)

Exactly......As mentionned earlier, the region east of the Andes is the Llanos, it's a area of plains and marshes...the Amazonian jungle is way east of the screenshot indeed ;)

You can play top-down or tilted, with 2D counters or 3D sprites. It is mostly 2D but with the map tilt it seems 3D...

Finally!

You mean you have modelled the whole world in that detail? It looks good, but the terrain could be a tad sharper.

I'd also like to see some of the units, which hopefully look more in the way of AACW/WiA and not NCP.

Really looking forward to see more! This and HOI3 should fullfil all my strategy needs for a long time.

Wait till you get it and see the full map...I'm a big fan of the BoA-AACW-WIA style maps, but this is just...impressive isn't nearly a strong enough word. :)

Thanks for the screenshot

As others commented previously the interface is just incredible and with a lot of little details, look at the hanging lights..., everything looks to me like extracted from a railroad station, congratulations to the artist :w00t:

Regarding the french flag, yes, is it part of the interface? looks a bit early (1850) for the french intervention

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_intervention_in_Mexico

So the goods are gold, money, coal iron, ? and man power.

And from that we get war supplies, ammunition and soldiers

But is it supposed to be a hidden feature in the screenshot that we should discover?

On the right below, that little lever is the world destruction button? And somebody touched it! :mdr:
