Generals starve along with their men?

Thu Feb 26, 2009 8:08 am

If a stack is lost for lack of supply, are any leaders lost too? This seems odd to me. I can see the units disintegrating into a flock of starving refugees, too disorganized to ever reappear as formed units, but certainly the guys with stars on their collars would never starve and would return to duty after some period of feeding up. They should be treated as if they were wounded in battle (locked in some nearby city for a couple of turns).

I've lost a stack to hunger and the general was injured and locked...

I've seen it go both ways. In my last game I lost two division commanders when their divisions fell apart but an attached two star to one of them (independent division) was simply injured and locked into Denver(!) for a few months. My guess is that there is some randomness to it. Perhaps the survival rate should be higher, but maybe not.

Considering that generals rarely die otherwise in this game (which is not really historical) I can live with it.
