Erratic unit movements

Sun Feb 08, 2009 8:51 pm

Recently I loaded the game on a much faster computer but I'm noticing a problem. When I click on a unit/stack on the map, then click on the "file folder" tab at the bottom of the screen to look at the units in that stack, the computer will move that stack to the region just behind the tab. I have to be really careful to delete the move or off they go into the willy wags at the end of the turn. It doesn't happen all the time, but more often than not it does.

Anyone else had this problem and if so what can I do to fix this?

Have patched to the 1.13b version.

Thanks in advance.

What is the FPS shown at the top left in the little red window, when you activate Error Logging?

Gentlemen,

Work is piling up so I won't be able to follow your advise for a few days, but I did want to thank you for your prompt replies. Will let you know how I fare.

Perhaps I can introduce you to the scoundrels that mismanage our mortgage? You can certainly teach them a thing or two about customer service. ;)

Much obliged.

Pocus:

Just had the problem occur when I clicked on the tab for a squadron in New York City and the squadron was immediately given orders to move to Cape May. The error logging message box said the following:

6PFS 19ms
map x: 10460 y: 1461
Thing UID: 1004060

Is that the information you are looking for?

Do I have to set the screen resolution to something other than the default every time I play, or will it stay on a new setting that I select until I change it? It seems to reset to the default every time.

That can explain, you have a too low screen refresh rate and so you are able to move things in the interval between 2 frames, so this will mislead the game.

Check that your video driver is up to date (and that your video card is not too old ;) ). Reducing resolution will definitively help (and the option should stick!).

The CSA AI is discussed in many threads. Let's leave this one for the question asked in it.

(As a quick fix, try raising their fow bonus. Crossing the Potomac helps too! ;) )

Gents,

After following your advice I find the problem has lessened, but not been eliminated.

That being said, I say no need for additional advice, as you all have bigger fish to fry, and this is a minor inconvenience which will in no way lessen my enthusiasm for the game. In fact, it will probably result in my being a more careful player and hopefully a better one.

Now, on to Richmond...or some other random region if I ain't careful!
