Do yo have any good books on the subject to recommend? (available in english or Spanish)

it would require only an european map, similar to the Napoleonic one.
(it could be even an expansion of NCP)

i would expect that the subject "the Thirty Years Wars" to be attractive as the EUI-II-III has shown (and the focus is slighty different).

Very attractive to me. :)

Given the AGE engine's attention to detail (small-scale units, leader portraits & capabilities, etc.), covering so many conflicts over such a long period would be a herculean research effort, though. :(

For this to make money, I think that AGEod would require more than the usual amount of unpaid, volunteer alpha and beta tester help. We can all read Wikipedia pages, but how many people are truly knowledgeable in this area?

If a team of serious and comitted volunteers is assembled, Ageod can pull the other resources needed. ;)

A project of this nature would be so awesome that I, for one, would be among the first to volunteer. :gardavou: :dada:

World in Flames

[quote="kafka"]interesting approach!

Just a note: I'm one of those who are strongly interested in a game set in the WW2 european theatre which combines the strategic and operational levels as in War in The Pacific by 2by3 (published by Matrixgames). There is nothing like that in development as far as I know. There are some games like HOI2 and SC2 which cover the grand strategy level only and the the edition of TOAW by matrixgames which covers the operational level only. But there is none which models both aspects as does WiTP for the pacific theatre. 2by3 has worked on a remake of War in Russia but has halted this project so there is absoluteliy nothing of this kind in development now. I suppose that there might be a lot of people interested in such kind of partnership to support the development of such a game. [quote]

Matrix is working with Australian Design Group to bring out a computer version of the board game World in Flames. WiF has both the strategic/political level and the operational detail as you are requesting. They have been at it approximately as long as the real WWII took though... No way of telling if it will ever happen. I have been playing a game of WiF using the Rodney Kinney VASSAL engine and have been completely satisfied (aside from getting my butt kicked!).

People we lack the most are the ones willing to put their hands into excel files and add, edit and create things, like units references, events scripting, etc.

Modding is definitively not about throwing a bunch of internet links to a forum and hope it is enough to make a game. Sorry to feel a bit aggressive here, but too many a time we saw this kind of 'beta'.

PhilThib wrote:This could be done indeed. We can get the historical sources easily, and adapt the engine. The problem is the graphics, which we have to rework and pay for. This is a budget of 10-12,000 euros we do not have right now... unless we find a fan who wish to partner with us and help us do that :sourcil:

Do a Gettysburg tactcial game with regions. Then you just have to pay for the map.

Gettysburg will sell more copies, and we can rent the unit and leader art since it already exists.

It won't take long to do, doesn't need a jillion scenarios, and can sell for a lot less money, making everyone happy. If it works people will play it to death and then want another one like Bull Run or something.
