Questions about battles

Fri Nov 07, 2008 6:17 am

Hi,

After a battle has been fought, a screen comes up and tells me about the result. Can someone please tell me what everything on the screen means? I am confused about everything. Maybe there is a link to a page that tells me everything I need to know?

Hover your mouse over the icons. I found the pop-up texts quite descriptive.
There are three kinds of people: Those who can can count and those who can't.

Thank you for the advice but I will be more specific.

At the bottom on the left hand scale when it says: "Global combat value of the units initially committed: your side 2300, opponent 4500" what does this mean?

What does it mean you have taken a hit, how much damage does your unit take? As far as casualties, how much of that actually gets subtracted from my force since even in large battle it doesn't seem like I lose that many.

One hit is a strength-point hit. As you notice from the manual, units usually don't stand in the fight and die, but rout away before being eliminated (you can see how many of your elements routed from the lines at the battlereport). Thus the damage is usually spread out over several elements, and you don't indeed see that many eliminated elements.

"Global combat value", if I understand correctly, is the power of all the units taking part in the combat added together +/- any effects affecting (for example +10% if they have a supplywagon present, or the possible malus for being non-active, etc).

The "global combat value" is an approximation of your force's combat strength, based on a variety of factors. I'm not sure exactly how much is factored in, but it serves as a good indicator, at least
