So, could someone give me a definition of what each "specialized" unit in the game is used for? Supply wagons need not be included.
Thanks in advance

Sharpshooters help to give your armies "initiative". or in other words....they help decide who shoots first in every round of combat.
Signal Corps help improve the Command Point Cap of your formations.
Hospital Units help improve the cohesion recovery rate of your formations
Balloons provide intelligence of the enemy's strength and such. (which is found by dragging and holding your mouse pointer over an enemy unit.
Marines help you move quickly across rivers, in marsh and in swamp terrain.
Sailors are similar to Marines
HQ's are for forming armies
Texas Rangers are just cheap cavalry that fight really well in the state of Texas (at least that's all I've ever noticed).
I don't think I'm leaving anything else out.

Oh yeah -- Engineers -- what benefit do they have?

they speed up entrenchment as well as provide a little extra protection for your troops from enemy fire.

Don't forget naval engineers. They help repair ships so it doesn't take years.

Unfortunately, these nav Eng cost too much for CSA scarce resources, and the initial ones (3 or 4) are locked... I asume they represent fixed instalations.
(So can help only if you are lucky your ships get constructed in these areas. Well sometimes they are

This is VERY useful, thanks. Sticky for us newbies? Or add to abilities list?
