I played the large 114 turn Civil War "scenario". I was the Union.
At the War's end, I controlled all the major Union cities, actually the entire northern half of the map, PLUS-
Richmond, Norfolk, Raliegh, Wilmington, Chatanooga, Georgetown, SC
Memphis, Nashville, New Orleans, Mobile, AL, the entire Mississippi River, and in the west all the way down to Dallas.
Points accumulated ea turn from cities:
Union=64
CSA=26

Combat Losses:
Union= 177,705
CSA= 304,646

Morale at wars end:
Union=141
CSA= 63

I think I clearly won!..........BUT
Victory points said:
Union=2809
CSA=5081

How can that be. The whole map of the USA was "blue dots".
I controlled all objectives except
Atlanta, Little Rock, Vicksburg, Charleston...

And I lost !? Why? Can anyone give me a hint? (besides the victory points numbers which have to be wrong). I think they should be reversed according to the data above.

Before blaming the game, consider the fact that the total VP number is the sum of all the VP numbers you get all the turns. So if the Confederates held the VP producing cities long enough, and if you spent more VP for war bonds and such, they'll be ahead of you in the end of the game.

Remember as the union your expected to control a lot....thats why I contend in PvP that the south is harder to play....sooo many factors in declaring a winner, for one remember just firing and replacing leaders, at the wrong times, you take a huge hit on VP's so you have to watch seniorty like a hawk, just one of the million reasons it could be.

OK, good points

Even harder if you use the brand new beta patch, I use to exploit Athena as the CsA, by knowing she watched VP sites and not squares, and slaming into DC with everything I could muster (from a square she neglected), apparently Pocus managed to change her approach a little, really making things tougher.

As an explanation to the VPs.

War is going to be a military win ALWAYS by the USA, he has more troops, money, supply, ships, and so on. And more are added once a few time elapses.

The question is:

Are you doing REALLY a LOT BETTER than History?

This is what the VP tries to mean...

Without VPs, in the long term, USA should won always the war. (Well perhaps some chance is left to the confederates)

"I controlled all objectives except
Atlanta, Little Rock, Vicksburg, Charleston..."

That kinda says it all right there. Historically those cities were also in Union hands at war's end. You did a lot worse than actual history - hence you shouldn't be surprised you lost.

It is a hard game this we are playing.

Give AI a few extra bonus more than the standard and you will have a hard work beating it.

Ok AI is perhaps not as good as a player, but hard to beat in your first games.

And seems new beta AI improves a lot, according to pepe euforia!

This is a little strong. From his description, it sounds like he just needed a few more turns. So instead of bashing him, maybe something constructive could be offered?

put413: You were definitely on the right end of the casualties. It sounds both from the VP scores you listed, as well as what you said you hold and do not hold, that you were a bit too cautious in your advance.

This figure: (snipped from your post) Points accumulated ea turn from cities:
Union=64
CSA=26
is important, but it was reversed for a long time. Couple that with a few over-eager promotions and you can get behind in the VP race pretty quickly. This figure changes from turn to turn based on who controls various cities on the map.

Your VP and NM totals can also be affected by the draft/financial/political options you choose.

All things considered, you 'won' in the real world sense of things. You did lose in game terms, however. Be confident that you had the heart of the CSA surrounded and that you would have finished them off if you had a few more turns. Just speed up your offensives next time and you should take them.
