Total beginner question - units and divisions

Thu Mar 08, 2012 12:48 am

Hi,

I'm just starting to play this game but am stuck at trying to get an individual unit to join a division. Try as i might to drag and drop, it won't go in.

Any help much appreciated.

Highlight the division, and then click on the other element (holding down the CTRL key), you should see a + sign appear in the panel on the left, click on the + sign and they will go in.

Hello from another newish player!

If you're playing a full campaign then Divisions and Corps are disabled until Oct 61 and March 62 respectively. If you haven't played it already I found the Shiloh scenario a useful way to get used to divisions and corps. Start that scenario as Union and reorganise Grants army into corps, putting any spare artillery from the reserve stack into Grant's army stack after filling up your divisions.

Also note your commander needs to have Enable Divisional command button selected (thats the button with the soldier next to the tent on the middle panel). The red rings show the relevant buttons and tabs to select. Also note you can only enable division command if the general is activated indicated by the envelope in the red ring to the right being white, if its brown you can't select division command that turn.

Once the enable division button is selected it stays selected and you can then add units by selecting both the general and the unit to add and pressing the button with the + symbol that should have highlighted.

Hope that makes sense.

Hi,
Sorry if this question has already been answered, but I did not found the answer: I don't remember how to change the unit name.
Can someone help me?
thanks,
FLS

Alt-click on the Force's tab. Note, however, that armies cannot be renamed (they can be unmade and remade to auto generate a better geographical name).

It's particularly dastardly to change the name of a militia unit to, say, "McEnroe's Division".... :innocent: :siffle:
