Sedgwick provided this advice on Marching to The Sound of the Guns:
This may be somewhat helpful, but je doesn't parle francais very well.
Would someone care to translate the second thread and summarize?

Heh, sorry, should've done this to begin with. Try this:
http://translate.google.ca/translate?js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&sl=auto&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ageod-forum.com%2Fshowthread.php%3Ft%3D9478&act=url
EDIT: anyway, there isn't much in the second thread that isn't in the first, just that there's no limit to the number of times a force can MTSG, but the chance is reduced after each instance.

Thanks Sedgwick. One might think that three years of French in high school and several college courses would have improved my understanding...
The threads were unclear to me on one point - does (pre)selecting rail (or river) transport for a Corps increase its defensive responsiveness versus not preselecting the rail option? Or does it just ensure that rail transport is available (or reserved), even though the Corps itself does not move.
BTW I've found translation programs to have limited utility when trying to understand specific points. Look at some of my attempts on the espanol forum for example.

No prob. It's true what they say - immersion is the only way to learn a language effectively.
Preselecting the "move by rail/river" options will increase the likelihood of a corps marching to the sound of the guns insofar as it shortens the travel time between two adjacent regions. So for example, a corps that's 7 days away on foot would have a 70% penalty to MTSG chance, but only a 10% penalty if "move by rail" is selected, assuming a travel time of 1 day.
