Effects of national morale

My reading of the forum tells me that national morale impacts recruitment levels, economic output and cohesion levels (likely other things that I am overlooking).

And I've seen references to a magic number of NM 105. Is there a thread that tells how national morale at various levels impacts all of these things? For instance, what difference does a NM of 105 have over a NM of 104? Knowing possible trade offs of dropping NM due to decisions I make regarding finance, political objectives, recruitment etc. would be helpful in making wiser decisions.

Again, if this has been gone over in detail, I'd appreciate someone pointing me to the appropriate thread.

NM also effects how fast your troops regain cohesion, as well as your list. In addition which side has the highest NM score for that turn also receives a die roll for a chance to increase foreign intervention. (there is another die roll for who has the highest VP score as well).

If you look at the top left of the screen you will see your VP and NM. If you mouse over the NM it will tell you your national morale co-efficient- this effectively is your modifier instead of your raw NM score. So if you have a NM of 105, your NM co-efficient is still only 100: so there is no improvements. But if you have NM 106 then your NMC changes to 105- so you will get a 5% bonus. Then if your NM is 114 your NMC is still 105. But with a NM of 115 your NMC goes up to 110.

Here is my table from 70 NM to 120NM, which is the most common range, but someone else might have a more complete table.
NMC NM ranges
110 115-120
105 106-114
100 95-105
.95 86-94
.90 75-85
.85 70-74

So to answer your question, 106 is a magic number in that it's easy to reach from 100 and the next NMC improvement doesn't occur until your NM 115. Also if you can keep your cities that have conscription points above 87% loyalty while your NM is above 106 then you should receive 28 conscripts per turn. Also your NM can drop to 95 without penalty.
