Brand Spanking New to Game

I have been through the tutorials a couple of times but am still foggy on making corps and divisions. I tried to place R E Lee at the head of the Army of Northern Va but had no success. Is there a place that I can find the mechanics spelled out in a way that will make more sense to me? Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks for the links. I have read through the manual but unfortunately it seems that my time is sometimes pretty limited so I am getting just bits and pieces of actual playing time on the game. If you were giving advice about how to approach the learning curve, would you suggest a smaller scenario or a campaign. I obviously have a lot to learn. Thanks again for your prompt responses. I am really looking forward to learning!!!

It took me a while to figure it all out, myself.

Creating a Corps only requires a 2 star general who is located within an Army's area of control (you can see this area by selecting the Army unit and pressing the shift key). The two star general must be separate from the Army unit itself.

Creating divisions require multiple units. You select an active general who is not combined with any other units (which forms a Brigade). Activate divisional command on the general. Then you select that general along with several units (up to 18 elements) and press the + combine button.

I can heartily recommend the Far West scenario. Each side can create one army, one corps and two divisions. There are also some reinforcements and replacements to be recruited. In all, it has for me been *the* scenario to get a grasp on the game mechanics

Hi Goarmy,
Ifyou have just started a game even though you can see Lee in Richmond
he dos"nt become "active" until march 1862 (i think).
If i was you i would buy a new HQ for him to have his own army of
Virginia and save on NM andVP"s.
You can also get alot of info reading the old threads but you can"t beat
actually playing and losing against the AI------good luck
