Running Island 10.
I am curiouse how much damage would a full division take if it trys to by pass island 10 say in a regular transport with maybe a couple of gunboats or a ironclad. Would the division be in fighting shape if it recieved a couple of hits. The reason why i am asking is i am thinking about taking Little Rock that way to quickly take out confederate forces in the Arkansas/Missouri theater. At the same time i would have a division marching from St. Louis to Fayesttville via Rolla and Springfield, While leaving a brigade or a milita group in those cities as garrosens. Of course a little luck would be involved in the Running of Island 10. Any opinions on my strategy would be apreceated.

I'm not sure what your planed route is, but you will likely have to run Memphis as well...
If you set as passive+evade, you may be able to get by without too much trouble, provided they have no other batteries along the river. As far as the shape you are in, it may be fine, but you better bring plenty of wagons in case your conquering does not go at the pace you'd like. Until you take Springfield, Fayetteville and possibly Ft. Smith, you won't be getting any supply to your men.
Also, pick your seasons well, you don't want to get caught in the Arkansas mountain/wilderness in too bad of weather. As is you will likely have plenty of mud to deal with anyway. Good luck!

Any run made toward Little Rock, starting above Island 10, is going to take you past both Island 10 and Memphis; as Soloswolf has stated. I am thinking that you may get lucky on one, but not both. I would imagine that the division is going to show up in pretty bad condition, after running by both locations. The good thing about Arkansas is, you will probably not be facing any heavy forces if you do it early enough.
I would think that you would be ok in trying this, but don't plan on using that division for a while.

I am not worried about getting past Memphis it only bombards when the garrison is set to attack passing boats, i have never had Memphis bombard my ships or I bombard any passing fleet without first having the button to bombard passing fleets pushed, and thanks about making sure i have plenty of wagons. I already have Rolla taken and i can see Springfield and Fayettsville and there are no Confederate forces yet so if he made any in arkansas it be in Panther, Little Rock, or Malvern and by the time they are finished I should have Fayettsville. Best case scenarior would be for him to have his men in Ft. Smith so i can land behind him in Little Rock and cut the river as a supply route. Worst case scenarior my forces get battered by Island 10. and run into confederate river fleet. Another possible way i could do it is march my division down past Island 10. then enter transports and gunboats that have ran the fort. The only drawback to second route would be it would give him an extra turn or two to react to my force cause he will definatly see my division and then it take a couple of days to board transports.
