Texas

Sun Aug 03, 2008 4:42 pm

Hi all,

Before I troll the old posts can i just ask what is to be done with Texas ?

Playing as the South in the full 61 game I am at a bit of a loss as to what to do.

Just some pointers would be fine :o

TIA

For obvious reasons, it is rare for any amount of forces to be put there. Often is is a back and forth of raids or a weak division on each side jockeying for position.

Texas does have some decent brigades that you can produce, so it is not all together bad to pacify the area completely, as that will give you access to CA, etc.

Against the AI you rarely have to worry about that area of the map.

Thanks for that. I had 'sort of' worked out it was a bit of a dead end but was worried I was missing something.

I didn't mean that it was a dead end, just not a focal point. If you win out there, those troops can certainly be brought forward to another area. It is just something to take a measured step with, not dive right in.

Cheers Solo, my bad at the choice of words ( Dead End ).

I promised myself not to get fixated on the East but that is exactly what I did, until I lost Houston.

But to be fair I am just playing at the moment to learn the system. Strategy is a poor second. But then my strategy is not the best anyway :-)

It is hard to not get fixated on the East. Your main armies, your capital, there's a lot of VP/NM to protect over there. There is a lot to manage in this game. Through play it will all come together.

Glad you're having fun! :cwboy:

Well make sure to keep a brigade in texas after you pacify it just in case the Yankees decide to make a naval invasion. However i just realized your probably playing athena so she probably will not do a naval invasion. But if it is a human opponent keep some small brigade to help defend the area
Quote General Lee Gettysburg movie,
"Do you see, General, there is the great trap, to be a good soldier you must love the army, to be a good commander you must be ready to order the death of the thing you love. We don't fear our death. But if this war goes on and on and the men die and the price gets ever high. We are prepared to lose some of us, but we are never prepared to lose all of us. We are adrift here in a sea of blood and I want it to end. I want this to be the final battle".
