I'm getting killed by Athena---Help!

Wed Apr 23, 2008 4:13 pm

I started another union Campaign after installing the patch 1.10beta2.

Normal AI, Normal agression, no modifiers to fog of war or activation.

While waiting for McDowell's Army to activate. I got hit by a spoiling attack a bunch of militia and what not. Won a victory and retreated in passive mode to Washington. After that debacle, The confederate Army of the potomac(80k+!) Came up and beseiged Alexandria. I would try to coordinate attacks, but was getting destoyed peicemeal.(but winning victories) Had NM levels about even, then took the hit for not getting into Virginia.

My biggest problem seems to be winning victories and then retreating into passive mode even while capturing stuff.

Difficult to say really without seeing the full situation what you might be doing wrong. However the first thing that springs out at me is that you say your NM is about equal? Thats quite unusual at this stage, especially if you have yet to win any battles. Strikes me that maybe you are not expending any NM yourself in order to get a draft/cash? You can wait until the end of year just before it resets to do a full or partial mobilisation as more VPs gives you more troops but I tend to do it in june. If you are not recruiting then that might be why the AI is outnumbering you and hitting you hard. just a thought, but likesay not enough detail to be sure.

But otherwise not sure on your winning victories/retreating in passive dilemma. People here could maybe help more if you posted screenshots of your army before and after, and the battle screen and maybe we can work out what you might be missing. That way can see what your army setup is etc...

Probably you only succeeded in retreating against a huge enemy force, that's why the battle report says you have a victory. Just check the strength of the enemy force and read the main log to see messages before the battle to see what really happened there.
