Teleporting & Troop movement

Tue Mar 04, 2008 10:22 pm

I tried the Teleporting for the first time today just to see if I thought it was a cheat or not (for me anyway).

But a couple of things came up because of it and I wonder if anyone has an answer to these questions.

1. I teleported Polk to Rolla... the next turn I decided to teleport him on up to Jefferson City.

However, it would not let me. Now the way I understand it is I get (1) One 'teleport' a turn and the AI gets 3.

But I also saw on a post " you can only do it once".

I took it as once a turn, but after this I was wondering if it meant ONE TIME per General, Service unit, ect per game.

Which is correct?

2. The other thing I discovered that in ALL the games I have undertaken I have never noticed this very simple thing.

When I NORMALLY move Polk to Rolla it takes 28 days by Rail with ALL OF HIS TROOPS he comes on the playing field with to get there.

Without him in the stack it takes 53 days by rail for just his troops to get there.

So I ask this obvious question: It looks like troops move faster when lead by a General.

I thought the troops moved at the pace of the slowest unit?

Can anyone clarify for me....

Whats the CP penalty? That will affect the movement speed too. You should be able to teleport from anywhere and to anywhere where you have sufficient military control and is not under siege.

So it has no limitations on the amount of times per same unit I can teleport per game?

I can't understand why it wouldn't let me do the second teleport as it was like turn 7 and I had complete control of all that area.

As far as the CP is concerned on the movement, I never thought to take that into consideration as it had no leader.

Now that you mention it I ALWAYS check units (without a leader) for the % penalty for battle but it never crossed my mind about movement....

I will check that ...THANKS

Was Polk active? The tooltip always says that when you can't relocate a leader, but it could be for other reasons....

Grrrrrrrr, Agian ThAT never entered my mind that he had to be active.

Makes sense tho as he can't fight if he isn't activated or take on troops if he is a Div Commander so why should he be able to teleport.

Guess I need to either think this thru a little better or just go back to NOT using it at all.

Thanks to both of you!!!
