Optimal Supply Depot Network

Fri Dec 12, 2008 11:52 pm

I understand that it is best to build depots every 3 or 5 regions....has it been proven that this will provide enough of a supply network for the Union player?

Thanks

5 regions is the max a depot can push supply. I don't think there is an "optimal" distribution as it will depend on what type of transport - road, rail or river, and the weather conditions. Building depots along rail lines, along rivers and through terrain that has roads allows them to be resupplied quicker.

The wiki has detailed descriptions of this. During the supply phase supplies automatically moves as far as a supply wagon can move (without rail) in one turn. So you can use your supply wagon units to check. In hilly terrain depots may need to be less than 5 regions apart.

River/rail will be used to forward supplies in depending on how much capacity you have availalbe (none, 1/3, 2/3, or full).

Here is another good thread that should answer alot of questions to.
