Promoting problem ?

Fri Jun 20, 2008 11:06 am

In the campaign I play, Nathanyel Lyon has been available for promotion.
That was a good news, since he is one of the only able generals I have playing the north.
Since he was leading a division, I then used the - button to remove all his units, put him out of the stack (the commander of the stack is 3* general), clicked on the promote button now available, and put him back in his stack, giving his men back by using the + button to recreate the division.

Lyon was still a one * general the turn after. And there is no more promotion offered now.

Did I miss the spot ? Should I have let him out of his group at the end of the turn (which was not a good idea, he was defending LouisVille and there was a lot of enslavers at the doors, I needed him commanding his division) ?
Can general be promoted from one * to one * ?

I am using v1.10c, so does my opponent (PBEM).

Hi!
For getting the promotion you ordered, Lyon must be the most senior leader in his stack.
So you should separate him form the 3* leader stack and left his division stacked alone or with other divisions/units with less seniority leaders.
You have to left him like this till next turn because as soon as you stack him again with the 3* leader the promotion order is lost. :bonk:
But no need to disband the division.
It can be a little pain in the ass when you are in the front line, i know... :siffle:

Thanks for the quick answer, that's what I thought :/

But it is a bug that his promotion has disapeared no (cannot be promoted anymore) ? Probably clicking on the button remove the possibility, and at the same time, having him stacked under a higher ranked general prevented the promotion from happening.

Too bad.

No its not a bug or because you pressed the button.
The thing is that after a leader gets "promotable" if not promoted soon he will lose some seniority points (1 per turn??) and in the next turns become again not fit for promotion. He will have to earn some seniority points again.
Check Lyons seniority points and you will see that now he had lost some of the 4 seniority points he gained to become promotable.
This pormotion thing is a "take it or leave it" thing. You cannot store several ready for promotion leaders waiting for the perfect moment.
Or you promote him when the opportunity arrives or you lose the chance after a couple of turns and he will have to gain the promotion on the battlefield again. :indien:
