I had previously installed the software on a different PC. I recently replaced the PC and deleted the copy off the old computer. However, I ran into the following problems during the install on my new PC:
1) The install seemed to run fine. Immediately after I typed in my license key, the installer confirmed that the key had been saved, then gave me an error message that the "d3drm.dll" file was missing.
2) Every time I subsequently tried to launch the application afterwards, I got the following information in my computers Event Viewer:
Faulting application AACW.exe, version 1.1.3.3, time stamp 0x2a425e19, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 6.0.6000.16386, time stamp 0x4549bd80, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x0004fcac, process id 0x8ac, application start time 0x01c883194b0c22d6.
I can't launch the application under any circumstances on this PC.
I have attempted the following troubleshooting steps:
1) Updated my copy of the game to the current 1.09 patch.
2) Updated my nVidia card video drivers to the current version.
3) Installed the most current version Direct X.
4) Installed the most current updates for Windows Vista Preminum Edition (please also note this is a clean install of the OS).
5) Ran AACW.exe in compatibility mode for WindowsXP, SP2.
6) On the ageod forums, I saw a post which reported some Vista problems related to the same missing .dll file I mentioned above. So I followed the instructions to download the .dll and copy it to my C:\Program Files\AGEOD's American CIvil War directory. But I couldn't run regsvr32 to register it and I still can't launch the program on my PC.
Please let me know if this is a known issue, or how to resolve it. If you need any additional information, please let me know.
Thanks,
bsz
