Exactly, Richfed. That is how it happens in my games as well. But you are right, it is playable as you do not need to pay attention. Though I like to see the detectable Union movements and battles while the turn is being processed and I am used to it due to the Union experience :)

Hi again,

thought I'd start a new game with the latest patch RC, trying if the problem still exists and yes, it does :(

Made a clean install, patched the game, started as the CSA and as always, in the 3rd or 4th round, I can see the Union movements.

What the heck can be the cause? This really leaves me baffled...

You should see enemy movement per your detection of those regions. If you click on the options menu, there is an option to turn it off. I can't exactly remember what its called in the options menu, but it is there.
