Not Loading Saved Games!

This is really pissin me off! Everytime I save a game, then go to return to it by reloading it, I get a Critical Error message that says to send you the main log and the saved game! Since there is no saved game in the saved game folder, I can't send you that! What kind of b.s. is this? I'm ready to give up on Ageod Civil War and request a refund! (Which I know I'll never get since I purchased the download game from the Matrix Games website) Anyway, you're just going to shrug your shoulders and say I don't knows what to tell yous.

leure: Running Vista with the 1.10 patch. (For all the good it's going to do telling you what patch and OS I'm running). If a low graphics game like Civil War, can't work on a modern computer system, that says alot about what a poorly designed game you've come up with!!!

Hi Horse Soldier; Sorry to hear you're having problems.
In the ACW/Logs-directory under your AACW installation, you will find a file called "Main.log"; can you please share it with us, either by sending it to
support@ageod.com (referring to this thread if you like), or by attaching it to a post here.
Informing us of which patch and which OS you are using is of help, since Vista installations face other challenges than XP installations do, and it gives us a starting point for solving your problem. It is also good to know that you are fully patched, so we don't need to think of anything in that direction

Vista works fine. It does, however, like to put your AACW saves in stupid places. Check out

Well that's fine, but what you're not addressing the key issue here which will allow me to load a saved game. When I go to load a saved game from the main menu, how do I keep from getting the critical error message, and then having the game crash to my desktop, since your game doesn't recognize that there are any saved games from there, and that is how this Ageod's Civil War game is set up to load saved games. In other words, telling me Vista stores the saved games in an odd place, is not telling me how I can now load them, since it doesn't do it the way your game was designed to.

Thanks Gray you're a big help. Can you tell me how I can get my money back since it's apparent there is nobody in your tech support that can answer me on how to overcome the stupid critcial error on how to load a saved game. You should put out a disclaimer stating: DON'T BUY OUR GAME IF YOUR OS IS VISTA! That would've saved me the time and money I've wasted, and probably others too!!!

I too am sorry you're upset, but let me point out a few things:
1. AGEOD is based in Europe, so it's ~2:20 AM right now, and they are not a huge company with 2 hour tech support.
2. Gray and I are not employees, but rather 'civilian volunteers'. We do not have access to the help emails, nor the proprietary code. Thus we are limited to trying to help by pointing out known solutions while you await dawn in Europe.
3. You will not have wasted your money. In the very very few occasions that an AGEOD game can't be made to run, AGEOD has given full refunds. However, I am not aware that any Vista systems have not been successful runnning the game, including loading saves and finding them.
As far as I know, AGEOD developers operate both XP and Vista systems successfully, so they will be able to help you.

(secondary account here)
Vista saves the files here (from user Aurelin: )
Vista, which thinks it's smarter than its users, put it where it thought best. I forget exactly where it puts the file though.
Do a file search. Might be here: C:\Users\username\AppData\Local.......
You may have to make sure that you're able to view hidden files and folders.
Once you have located the 'Saves' directory, simply delete it.
Restart the game, click on Load Game. No crash should happen.
Go back to Main Menu, do 'New Game', turn files are saved. You should be on the main map.
Return to the main menu, then do a 'Load Game'. Two possibilities:
a) You see the two trn files. It means that everything is on track now.
b) You get a crash. It means the file saving process is faulty on your computer. In this case, send MainLog.txt to support, which will open on Monday, european time.
If you bought for AGEOD, you can also ask for a refund if you think your crashes are too bothersome to cope with.
Best Regards,
The AGEOD Team.

I have the same problems (with the 1.11 version only) and just retry and It has worked the 2nd time. Don't think it's a Vista problem. Also the resume button no longer works in the latest release. worked before.

If I save a game, quit and restart the program; the resume does not work and the first time I try to reload the game it aborts. The 2nd time has worked every time. This is under vista pro.

any game you load or a particular one? By abort you mean return to desktop?

I am refering to the game I'm playing - the campaign from the start. It gives a fatal error message and goes to desktop. I started a new game when I installed the patch. I could send saved game or whatever if you wish. Note that if i start it over again, it works the 2nd time. But the second time it still will not restart. The restart button give one buzz (not sure of sound due to my deafness). Loading the game gives two buzzes.

Stuff like this really infuriates me. I find it absolutely remarkable that in the few posts that I've seen on this forum with such egregious rudeness, AGEOD invariably responds not only with impeccable courtesy and civility, but actively tries to resolve the, uh,
"gentleman's" issue. Name calling and shrill unfounded suppositions might work where this person lives, but in more civilized environs, such behavior tends to result in its own punishment.
I too have Vista, and I too was running 1.10d until the 1.11 patch arrived.
However, I've had no problems, whatsoever. I somehow suspect that this gentleman's problem can be found between the keyboard and the chair.

Sayings like this serve no purpose. We prefer that people stick to the issues at hand rather than disparaging other posters, even if the other poster may have moved in that direction themselves.

Also, it detracts from the nice things you say about AGEOD in your post
