Transports Check In But They Don't Check Out....et al

Tue May 26, 2009 6:45 pm

Here are a number of bugs found in my current PBEM game that could use some attention.

1. Here on the lower Colorado, the tide flows so far upriver that our seagoing transports get permanently bottomed trying to get out, morning noon and night. This lone transport on the Lower Colorado does indeed act as a far ranging permanent depot on water for SouthWest Texas but eventually it will die from non maintainence.

Problem: Transport refuses to move back out of Lower Colorado to the Gulf of Mexico but can go upriver. :bonk:

2. This just in-----Lincoln bars Schofield’s promotion permanently. But I still get to pay the VP price for him staying at Brigadier. Schofield is very sensitive now and requests transfer to Des Moines to await retirement orders.

Problem: Schofield’s field promotion is denied but the request carries a heavy VP burden anyway and the reports are that Schofield has been promoted…..Schofield is prolly not coded to accept promos despite the info page. This has happened to me also in the March ’62 campaign scenarios.

3. Headline: Blockade in North Carolina called farce by New York Tribune. 19 brigs present and still runners are calling it home. Freeze Runner! (sorry I couldn't resist)

Problem: No matter how many blockade elements are present the tooltip says I need four more. This is a bottomless blockade in Pimlico Bay.

Here's the trn file:

Thanks for the attention.

In addition, even if it is a very rare situation, i do not understand why a Union fleet cannot supply in Vera Cruz when the city is occupied by allied units.

I'll try to answer you questions.

1) The lower Colorado or Matagorad bay must have gotten shallow enough between turns to trap your transport. Sometime in the next year I bet the weather will change the conditions of the river or bay to allow them to move again, if not, then someone should look at it.

2) That is a strange one, check your roster to make sure their aren't two Schofields. I've had that happen before.

3) Your brigs cannot be in passive mode to blockade.

4) Vera Cruz is considered CSA when occupied by the French, unless you have occupied it with Union troops, otherwise I don't understand the situation.

Thanks Redeemer,

1) GreyL says he's got the naval problem covered next patch but in this game it has been 24/7 for two years. The transport crew is asking with increasing insistence for shore leave. Captain Ahab says no shore passes til the White Whale be found in the Lower Colorado. I hope Ahab knows what he's doin.
Thanks GL!

2. I've had two General Kings before but not two Schofields. And I rechecked again. He's still unique....ie only one of him.

3. Bingo. You'r correct. I was in passive mode for some reason. The NY Tribune is publishing its apologies and retractions later this week in Section10. They had never counted on Union sailors being passive.

Thank you Redeemer.

4. After Cinco de Mayo when good Mexicans everywhere have routed thier Imperial French intruders and occupied Vera Cruz, I too, like Vegetius, have been unable to get USA ships into Vera Cruz. Even when USA troops occupy the city. I have however been able to waterwing Union divisions across to the new and improved US provinces of Texas one way without naval vessels but only using the water transport button.

Ah, yes. I think I have run into the same situation when taking Canadian off map boxes, but can't remember exactly.
