Always same error message

Fri Feb 20, 2009 12:19 pm

Hi,

I just purchased this game and I've been hooked on it for days  but the game keeps crashing around the same time. The same error message always appears 'error creating texture mapback 2048' and the game just sticks and then crashes :( .

I've got a modern powerful computer that meets all the specs' required to play the game however I have vista could this cause the error/crash and if so why?

Any ideas what's going on I've updated the most recent patch and I'm getting really  with it.

Regards
Adrian

Patches won't solve the problem as this is a video driver problem. You can reduce the maximum texture size displayed on the map in the Options Window, System tab though.

No idea how to do that?

Hi apowell!

On the main game screen, click on Options. there you have a lot of different optional settings you can configure.
Click on the System tab and there you should find an option maximun texture size.
Try changing it and see if it solves the crashes.
In any case... What computer, graphic card and how much RAM memory do you have?
If it's somewhat new you should have no problems. I play the game without texture size reduction on a five years old PC (using windows XP).
Vista needs lots of ram to work properly. Are you short of it (less than 3 GB?)
Do you have a proper Graphic card or one of these integrated cards some laptops have?
Regards!
