Replay not working for PBEM

Tue Feb 03, 2009 5:41 am

With the new 1.13 patch, I can't get the replay feature to work for a PBEM game, though it works fine in single player. In PBEM game, replay crashes the game.

I'm using the hotfix 2 version. When I tried it with hotfix 1, I used error logging and sent the automated e-mail error report to Ageod. I got a reply within a day (great response!) that said I should try hotfix 2, which is suposed to fix the replay crash error.

Well, it still is not working. My PBEM partner and I are both using 1.13 hotfix2 He is the host. He sends me the turn and replay files. The replay still crashes the game.

There seems to be problem with the replay file itself, since the CSA replay turn (mine) is only 32K, but the USA replay file (the host's) is over 500K. That can't be right.

Is there some setting the host is using that is causing the other player replay file to be truncated?

Was the replay generated in HF2 or was it an HF1 replay that you are viewing in the latest version?

I'm not hosting, so I can't say for certain, but the host told me he loaded Hotfix 2 before loading the game and ending the turn, and he verified on the startup screen that it was verison 1.13 hotfix 2.

The game was started under the original 1.13 patch, without either hotfix.

It's possble my order file might have been saved under hotfix 1, but I don't think so.

If we have to restart the game, it might be a blessing -- my opponent got a lucky roll and his Fort Monroe batteries sank both the Harriet Lane Squadron and Plymouth Squadron as they tried to slip by after they unlocked in Richmond in early June. Four ships! Almost half my navy! :(

Well to be honest you don't have to restart the game because you are missing one replay turn... just a few weeks ago the non host player never had replay :)

Now, for the future, if you are sure you are both in the latest version and the host see the replay file is too small, or that you can't load it, please hold on your game and write us again, we will ask your game to check for a bug.

Thanks, Pocus. If the problem continues, I'll send in an official error report to customer support.
