Turn 53 Early June 1863

Meade, seems to be in Blakely, but his force is very small. I'll send Hood's division to deal with him. The rest of my forces will stay put.

More attacks on Matagorda by Smith and Wheeler. I've got the port blockaded so only a matter of time before the enemy is routed here.

I'm sending cavalry forces in to the areas around St. Louis to keep up the pressure there. Still hoping I see an opportunity to get Jefferson City. A three element brigade will move to repair the rail in the region South of Louisville, KY. I want to be able to bring some more forces into the area quick and think I can spare a division or two from the Western Kentucky area soon. Time to get Buchannan's naval force back to the safe harbors of Paducah.

Stuart and Forrest were both successful at their objectives. J.J. will continue to attack the forces at Louisville to keep them weak. I think Stuart and Forrest can tie up any reinforcements he sends to the area.

The depot in Iowa should fall this turn and Van Dorn will have all the supply he needs. Hindman holds his position and I know that the enemy forces West of him are going to be out of supply. I'm sending a 3 element brigade to take St. Josephs, MO. Other than that just a lot of raiding.

Turn 53 Continued

Buchannan was able to make it out with losing his ironclads. The enemy has a rather large fleet.

CSA defeat; my generals are still not able to dislodge the enemy from Texas.

My opponent must be really hurting for supplies to launch and attack such as that. Easy win for the CSA though.

Losses were heavier on my side, but I held my ground. W.H.F. Lee was set on defend at all cost.

Stuart doing what he does best, raiding in force.

Turn 53 Continued

Apparently J.J. just engaged and captured a lonely artillery unit. Not fighting between the main forces that round.

Forrest took the depot, now its going to get torched.

Stuart defeats the Federal garrison at Columbus and gets some supply with it.

Got a little raiding going on in the East. My forces should be able to resupply at Belefonte.

To be continued in Late December. I'm moving from Washington to Florida tomorrow, so the drive will be long. Completed my final out from the Army last week, so now time to take 3 months of vacation time I've got saved up.

You are right about Lyon, he has 14% of the food needed for his troops. (per the battle report). Enjoy your vacation.
Remember - The beatings will continue until morale improves.

He is toasted.. You will get morale victory within 3 to 5 turns. He was too conservative and bold at the same time : He should have put a lot more pressure on you in Virginia and Kentucky, forcing you to suck up lots of replacements and reinforcements there, to than have the capacity to land on you rear and create extra fronts. He should also have protected his rear a lot better with a mass of dedicated chasers to make your life hell there, make it costly. If he can catch all the cavalry he would at least have destroy your partisans. And he should also have used more his railway to move stacks fast, hit you with a big hammer when he cans and otherwise protect his holdings...

You did great, pushed him to going for adventures that were too bold (Carolina, Florida, Texas) while bluffing him into not attacking in Virginia and being too conservative in Western Kentucky when he should just have gone for the throat with a big army led by Grant. When you play the USA the goal is to bleed the Rebs first and foremost, than take the territory...

To be continued soon once I get up with Arth, my opponent. Just got settled in Florida since moving from the West Coast. Hence, the delay in posting.

Looks like that is it. Talked to Arth and his computer hard drive decided to die on itself. I'm about to go to Iraq again, but depending on how work is over there I'll see about going another round with Arth. Should be able to if I get on one of the larger installations with internet in the rooms.
