BoA resolution versus Desktop resolution

Sat Jan 27, 2007 8:58 pm

Just want to confirm here that if you want to run BoA at a higher resolution than what your desktop is set to, you first must switch your desktop to the BoA resolution first before starting BoA. Is this correct?

For example, my desktop resolution is set at 1024x768 but I set BoA's resolution to 1280x1024. But when I start BoA, I still only get 1024x768. Only when I change my desktop resolution to 1280x1024 to match the BoA's resolution setting and before I start BoA do I get the higher resolution.

In other words, BoA does not change your computer's resolution to match the configuration utility's setting. Correct?

Thanks!

Just a follow-up to my orginal post. BoA appears to be able to change the resolution from from desktop setting of 1024x768 to as high as 1280x960. However BoA refuses to switch the resolution to 1280x1024 even though I chose that resolution in the configuration utility and clicked 'Change' and 1280x1024 appears in the Display.opt file. The resolution remains at 1024x768.

The only way I can play in 1280x1024 resolution is to set my desktop resolution to that before starting BoA.

A minor point, but BoA can change the resolution to a higher setting than my desktop resolution except BoA won't change to 1280x1024 on my PC (7900GS with 93.71 drivers).

Works fine for me if I choose "Fullscreen" in the AGESettings utility instead of "Standard". However after leaving BoA my refresh rate was set to 60 Hz (85 Hz before).
But actually it never happened to me that I use a higher screen resolution in a game than in Windows. Mostly I am forced to reduce it.

as Primasprit said. Did you switch to Fullscreen?

Yes, I did switch to fullscreen. But no matter what I do, BoA won't change the resolution to 1280x1024 unless I first change my desktop resolution to that. BoA will only switch as high as 1280x960 from my default desktop resolution of 1024x768.

Again, a very minor point, but weird. :bonk:

strange yes. Do you have others games which are listing some resolution choices with 1280x1024 shown?
Also are you choosing in the drop-box of the utility the exact same parameters as the one accepted by your desktop, eg resolution, color depth and frequency? Perhaps one is not accepted and another is.

Pocus,

Yes, to all your questions.

I choose the exact same color depth (16 bit) and the same refresh rate (60 Mhz) as my desktop is set to go along with 1280x1024. Other games I have switch from my desktop resolution of 1024x768 to 1280x1024 with no issues.

BoA switches easily to 1280x960 with no problem, but can't seem to go to 1280x1024 without me first switching my desktop resolution to that setting.

Again, a very minor point as the 1280x960 is very close to 1280x1024 anyway.

Also, before the latest patch (1.10e), I swear BoA was switching to 1280x1024 with no problem. I did uninstall BoA, reinstalled it and installed 1.10e overtop and still no switching to 1280x1024 on its own.

Don't waste any time on this as I just thought it was weird.
