Sound problems

Fri Jan 05, 2007 10:01 am

Hi

I have just bought Birth of America and have a sound problem.
There is no music and the sound is like a "screeching" during loading.
I have installed to F:\ as my C:\ drive is full.
I have installed the patch boa_patch1.10.exe but the sound does not improve. mp3's and wav's work fine on my PC. Do you have any ideas that might help? I have attached (hopefully) output from DXDiag as DXDiagJan07.txt

thanks

I'm reposting my mail, can be useful if somebody encounter a sound problem:

It can comes from your old sound driver, from 2001, which can have problem running sounds
played with DirectMusic (many games only use DirectSound even for music in fact...).

You can first try to check in DxDiag the DirectMusic setting, and run all the tests: you have a
box listing the ports that allow music, each line must be tested separately. If one has a
problem, try to force your card using another one, in its settings (settings can vary between
each card).

You can also try to reduce in the Sound tab the hardware acceleration used by your sound
card.

I would advise you though to update your driver, its 95% sure it
