I'd prefer the French, but I'm happy to play either side. Very inexperienced (haven't played the Independence scenarios, and only played this one against the AI 2 1/2 times), but happy to be ground into the dust. Although if I get ground into the dust as the French, hopefully we'd agree to call a halt when the victory conditions are reached

I'll pass, but I'm glad to see that after complaining about the AI, you are looking for a human opponent.

Indeed... perhaps I'll run screaming back to the AI . In my defence, I'm usually fairly forgiving about computer blunders (particularly in this sort of game), but I'd seen too many comments about how impressive the AI was.
