I have enjoyed playing AGEOD 's CW2 both vs. AI and vs. PBEM opponents and now ready to buy a 2nd title from AGEOD; so I am asking the community:

For playing 1vs1 via PBEM; which AGEOD title do you suggest as my 2nd one?

Thank you!

Though we have a private connection, I wish to answer publically as this might be interesting to other gamers.

Currently, the Thirty Years War is my very favorite. Small unit game with lots of complications. This is truly a demanding challenge to play well, but with a limited focus.

Rise of Prussia is perhaps the best pbem game ever developed. It has a classic interior lines versus overwhelming force conundrum. Frederic has it bad, but he is so good.

For anyone interested in the conflicts in America, Wars of America has an amazing range of excellent games. Besides 1776, the War of 1812 and French and Indian War are just delightful.

And do not forget AJE with all of its DLCs. Caesar v Pompey? What more could you want? Ok, more Rome versus the world. It is all there.

CW2 is probably the most purely enjoyable game in PBEM. Though it can also be frustrating if there is a big disparity in AGEOD experience level between players. It can also become very lop-sided in a few turns if NM takes a big turn.

I personally think BOA2:WIA is the best PBEM balanced game AGEOD has made. It's also the simplest, but in some ways that's what makes it so fun.

AJE is really fun in PBEM too, it's a very close second IMO.

RUS is good, but clunky. RUS:GOLD is more balanced, but even clunkier. I do like it though.

I disagree a bit with Durk about ROP, it's a great premise and I've had some fun playing it, but I found the mechanics didn't work as well as other games. I really didn't like the corps mechanics in this game, led to unrealistically large armies. Thought it would've been better with the simple command model of BOA2 (which seems more fitting for 18th century to me anyway).

EAW makes for a pretty good big war experience, though I'm a little biased towards that one :)

Honestly, they are all fun in their own way, you can't really go wrong. Just pick whichever topic most interests you.

I think RuS Gold very dynamic game. But also has great micromanagement in it. As Red, commissar and cheka units necessary for each stack. Also detachments, partisans play big role. Playing against 2 White players very exciting. :feu:
