Figured I'd post a poll here as to whether we start in 1850 or 1880. Probably the results won't be binding, but at least it will give us an idea of which way folks are leaning.

Please only vote in the poll if you are a player in the World in Conflict MP game.

I like 1850 cause i love long GC's, and i feel it is a more open start, where in 1880 Germany and to a lesser extent Russia are the giants on the world stage.

Are you hoping to be included in the game? I don't have you marked down for a country.

1850 will be fine if we avoid the colonial wild spree I can see on other PBEM games, which makes things a bit unrealistic. In 1880, we may see interesting struggle and I believe each country has it's pros and cons. Germany has strong industry and army but nothing else much, Russia is backwards even if giant...etc...

If 1880 is played "in the spirit" of the time, it could really be fun and there is a chance we can play and see the end of the campaign... A 1850 campaign will be very very long to become interesting for some nations (a reason to limit the list of players too).

I think 1880..... as the development part is a bit tedious......
Does the spirit of the times include a country like Persia wishing to rule the world? (convert everyone to Mohhamedanism)
And would 1880 be much more developed than 1850....... for lesser nations?

Yes indeed, 1880 will be much easier for those of you not playing the Great Powers...I am currently fixing and balancing those powers now (for PBEM game, not the normal game)
