[PON] Conflict in Europe - players wanted

Conflict in Europe is a multi-player game of Pride of Nations. We have been playing for 6, and are currently in 1858, with 9 players playing 11 nations.
Currently vacant are The Ottoman Empire, Spain, and Sweden. The people playing Prussia and Belgium can probably be persuaded to give these up. Minor nations can be made playable if Sweden is too big - but will have limited options.

If interested pop over to Anybody want to try a Multiplayer on the Paradox forum (may need registration) for full details.

6 is 6 months! Estimated ending time is 2015-6!

Seems that the Ottoman Empire and Sweden have been already taken away, possibly the USA as well. Other nations are or can be availalble. Join if you please a low-paced game that won't interfere with your real life, while providing lots of excitement and human interaction. :D

Thank you everyone for the amazing interest!

In just a couple of days, all offered states (Spain, Ottoman Empire, Sweden) have been accounted for, USA will probably be released to a new player shortly as well. That leaves us with Belgium, and possibly other nations to be extracted.

I have to say that the default 7 and most of the nations already played are the most interesting to handle in PoN, but this does not mean that you can't have fun manning one or more of the minor ones for some alternate history action. We are planning to mod our game on-the-fly to give some limited colonial options for every minor nation, options that would of course be appropriate to their historical capabilities.

The pace is rather relaxed, one turn per day, so this game is pretty compatible with real life. :neener:

Apart from Belgium, other possibly interesting nations to play alone or in combination are: China, Mexico, Denmark, Egypt, Argentina... the possibilities are limitless. If you find the challenge limited, you can man more than one, as long as they don't have historical incompatibilities (or animosity).

Just after a week, a new milestone!

We are currently 14 nations manned by 14 different players. Year is 1858. Most important nations with colonial aspirations are of course taken but a potential new player can always experiment with some potential superpower from Latin America. We are in the process of deciding to mod the game to give unscripted nations the ability to pursue some limited colonial and national policies, so it will provide much challenge!

Brazil, our 15th player, joined us recently. Anyone else? It will be intriguing if someone decided to play China*, although other nations are available as well.

*China requires patience and knowledge of its history and real capabilities, it will mainly be a defensive game against colonial powers... I believe it's the most difficult nation to play correctly... it has the advantage, though, that it is semi-scripted in PoN with several unique units

You can follow us in the Multiplayer section of the Paradox forums. Our game is called "Conflict in Europe" although it's gone worldwide since long. We also have a dedicated thread for some nice press releases from each nation, really engaging.

Actually, please DO pop there now and then cause we need your insight and some help regarding balancing (we mod the game on the fly to accommodate more nations equally) and defeating bugs that pop up.

I can do that but alas I can't fix bugs right now. I can provide advices or check engine code though..

There is a request about an entire subforum for your game btw, but this may be hard to get on the Paradox forum.

The one issue we appear to be running into frequently is the non-appearance of diplomatic items.
e.g.
Britain DoWs Austria.
Russia and Prussia each have a defensive treaty, and get told they have a CB and a limited time to react, and relations drop - but the CB isn't listed in the list of their diplomatic items, and the can't DoW.
We then added an event to give the a short term CB, and they both DoWed Britain.
USA, Portugal, and Greece all have a defensive treaty, the first two are played by humans and report getting the messages but no CBs - and none of them show the CB on their list of treaties.

Another example is Prussia and Turkey agree a mutual access and mutual supply treaty - they get the message but the treaties aren't in the list, and the effects don't appear.
France and Russia have previously had similar problems.

While we can add them via an event I don't know how the penalty for failing to DoW under a defensive treaty is produced or handled. Furthermore as the player gets the message saying the treaty has been accepted they may not notice that it actually hasn't been added.

I saw that yes in the Paradox forum. Perhaps I can check on that if you provide me a saved game (before:after the problem)... And have an unofficial fix (i.e not on Steam etc.)

Great Britain, the premium nation in PON will be shortly available in our multiplayer. Year is 1861 now.

The year is 1863 and I am happy to announce that in a few rounds we will be extracting our... 24th (and last for the moment) country! This country is already taken and we won't be accepting new players for some time until we develop the secondary ones a little bit further. We believe it is better to have some of our players man a second country instead of giving a half-baked solution to a new player. If things change, we will let you know.

I have to say, if you ever try a multi-nation PON, it's perfectly playable and an utterly fantastic experience!

Due to the necessary but unexpected and prompt leave of a fellow player, the permanent control of Egypt and the temporary control of the Ottomans (its player is on vacation for two more weeks) have just become available and is awaiting a new leader.

NB, the Ottomans are just in the middle of things, waging war against Greece, Britain and the USA, together with others, of course. :dada:

If interested, drop in at the Paradox forums (see first post).

The great Cretan War is coming to an end - maybe - or at least Austria has acceded to ceasefire terms. Prussia remains at war with Greece, Britain, and Denmark.

There are a number of countries available for players of different styles, skills and interests. These are minor powers at the moment, but over time great powers may invite new leadership.

Greece will be available soon. Other than that, there are some nations (Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Colombia) played by more than one players who might be persuaded to release them if many new players come. We will be active in the next months to provide for custom events for the South American countries, including the future wars of the 1870s and 80s, such as the War of the Pacific.

Players with ideas and modding abilities are especially welcome! :)

The info at the top of this thread is quite old. Maybe the first post could be updated, or point to a kept-current post in the Paradox forum?

One thing might be to highlight the question of what type of game a person likes - e.g., a developed economy vs. fixer-upper economic development work; peaceful vs. doing as much fighting as possible; in a quiet spot diplomatically vs. in the middle of things/crises.

Currently, the Netherlands and Colombia are open, and Egypt, Chile, Denmark or Argentina, and Portugal may be available. Egypt as an ally of the Ottomans and with great power support is at war with Britain. The Dutch empire and the Empire of Brazil are in a slow-paced war. At the oppostie extreme, it's hard to see Colombia needing to go to war with anyone - it need only do business based on its natural wealth.
