Missing Leader: William "Baldy" Smith

Thu Feb 08, 2007 5:38 pm

Here's another fairly important leader to be considered for future versions of the game....

William "Baldy" Smith:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Farrar_Smith

1. Nickname: "Baldy"
2. Possible candidate for the "Engineer" trait
3. Smith commanded a division at Antietam. He commanded the VI Corps at Fredricksburg, after which he got himself into a big political mess by complaining about Burnside to Lincoln. This fiasco resulted in Smith losing his Corps.
3. Smith was then shipped out west for a while. He was back in the Eastern Theater in 1864 to command the XVIII Corps, where he didn't perform especially well.

Division and Corps entries would be appropriate. Stats like 3/1/1 would be about right.

There are a lot of Smiths that need to be added. The south had 8 and the north 12(one was a Smyth) . Of course they don't all deserve to be included. I'd say both sides are short of generals especially the North. Should we suggest some now or wait until all on the current list are discussed? Or do the AGEOD people already have a list of new ones?
