William J. Hardee:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_J._Hardee

150 CSA William J. Hardee ldr_CSA_Hardee2 $Master_Driller NULL NULL NULL 8 5 2 5 General 1 NULL 4 1 2

1. Based on what was being said about the "Master_Driller" trait in the Richard Taylor thread, should Hardee be dropped down to a "Training_Officer"? Clearly he deserves at least that, considering he literally wrote the book on infantry tactics that was used during The Civil War. However, the "Master_Driller" trait, as it currently works, would bump up the experience of every unit in his stack every turn. He would have the entire Army of Tennessee as a crack fighting force in a very short amount of time. (if the designers are thinking about making "Master_Driller" work a little bit different for this game, then I guess none of this applies)

2. I would recommend bumping up his "offensive" rating at least a little bit. He launched a massive suprise attack at the Battle of Murfreesboro that steamrolled the opposition, literally bending back the Federal lines at a 90 degree angle. You might even give him the "Surpriser" trait based on this.

Here is my recommendation:

150 CSA William J. Hardee ldr_CSA_Hardee2 $Training_Officer $Surpriser NULL NULL 8 5 2 5 General 1 NULL 4 3 2

and for division level:
180 CSA William J. Hardee ldr_CSA_Hardee $Training_Officer $Surpriser NULL NULL 3 3 1 7 General 1 NULL 4 3 2

training officer seems to fit...so would a logistical trait...but an att rating of 3 seems a bit high, i don't know

I'm OK with either 2 or 3 for "offensive"....1 just seemed too low.

Hardee wrote the book on tactics ---"Rifle Tactics"- So Master Driller is fine with me

I don't think we can overrate his offense or underrate his defense.
4-2-2 with traits at Corps level.

Army? Hardee wasn't ready in winter 1863 (turned down the job) when the Army was demoralized. After Johnston fixed the army, Hardee wondered why he was passed over for Hood in 1864. I think his strat should take a hit as an army commander
3-2-2 with suggested traits at Army level.

I strongly disagree with that assessment. He didn’t get the job because Bragg and others conspired against him. Bragg couldn’t get the job but he didn’t want Hardee to have it either.

Lots of officers turned down jobs, I don’t see where it has a bearing on his stats.
