Missing Leader: Hunt?

Fri Feb 02, 2007 2:04 pm

Not really my field but this chaps name seems to crop up a fair bit - can't see him listed?

Henry Jackson Hunt (September 14, 1819 – February 11, 1889) was Chief of Artillery in the Army of the Potomac during the American Civil War. Considered by his contemporaries the greatest artillery tactician and strategist of the war, he was a master of the science of gunnery and rewrote the manual on the organization and use of artillery in early modern armies. His courage and tactics affected the outcome of some of the most significant battles in the war.

Cheers, Chris

May be he could be included within an artillery brigade (as a "flavor" unit)...otherwise could you find a picture ?

You can find pictures of Hunt and every other civil war general at http://www.generalsandbrevets.com/

We should probably have a separate section of the forum for new generals or this part is going to get very crowded.

By the time of Gettysburg each corps in the army of the Potomac had a brigade of artillery attached with Hunt in charge of the Artillery Reserve of 5 brigades(24 batteries with around 120 guns). It is possible to have formations with that much artillery in the game?

Yes, this is possible, we just have to create the specific unit.... :cwboy:

I would like to see Hunt, after all he commanded the Artillery at Malvern Hill. Which was basically Lee's Cold Harbor.
