Apologies in Advance. Forming Armies.

Hello,
I just purchased this fine game two days ago and am struggling with the creation of Armies, Corps and Divisions. I have looked throught the forums and read many of the excellent posts and guides but...ahem...am still having issues. Is there a comprehensive tutorial or guide that will help me finally understand army creation?
In paticular
1. How do I build a proper corp?
2. How do I build a division and insert it into the desired corp?

I know these questions have been asked before hence my advance apology....
Any help would be very appreciated.
Thanks

Hi and welcome!

Did you did the in game tutorials??
This process is explained there. I would advise doing them a couple of times.
By the way, you should patch the game as the process was changed a little after version 1.05 (or was it 1.04?).
It would be no good for you to learnt the obsolete system :bonk:

About your concrete questions:
1-You need a two star leader commanding a stack and in the influence area of an army HQ stack. Then check the tooltips on the buttons on the left of the panel stack and you will see a light up one to make a corps with him.

2-You need an activated 1* leader. Select him and click on the enable division button on the left of the units panel. Then he will be enabled as a division (his name will be written over a silver band instead of white one). Now you have to put some units on his division.
Select him and with the control key pressed select other brigades, batteries or regiments on the same stack and then press the plus (+) button on the left of the panel. You can add as much as 17 elements per division.

Bear in mind there are three buttons groups on the left of the unit panel. You can switch between them by clicking on the tabs above them.

Thanks arsan.

I think the elements in a unit were what I was struggling with. Just from your post I already see some of the information that I missed in the manual. This was very helpful.

Do I need to do the same thing to add my divisions to the Corps or just drop them into the Corp Stack?
Thanks

Hi!

Just drop them on the corps stacks, like normal units (regiments, brigades, batteries, leaders...). :cwboy:
Divisions are units... but a special kind of units, formed by other units. You can put them on any stack you want (normal stack, corps, army stacks...)

Its 18 elements that you can add into a division not 17 but you only want to add 4 artillery units into a division

Yes! 18 elements... or 17 plus the leader you already have on the division when you had formed it :siffle: That's what i meant! :cwboy:

I must admit forming divisions, armys, corps etc is a little difficult! i have been playing for a year now, started a new game and completely forgot how to form up a division :D

to form a division select a general, ideally just a 1 star general. as soon as you select him, under the special orders tab you should see a little box with wat looks like a man and a tent, select this box (it should say "select general to form division") after selecting the box hold "ctrl" and select the units in the stack you want to join the general division. once you have the men you want there should be a hghlighted box in the special orders tab with a red "+" sign, this will form the entire selected men into one division :)

corps work on much the same pronciple but with a 3 star general

but remember it costs money, war supplies and concript points to form divisions, corps and armies! if you have little or none of either one of these you cannot form a division, corps or army :)

Corps are free!! :coeurs:
Armies cost money in an indirect way, as you need to buy a HQ element to form one (well you receive some free HQ by event).
But you are right: forming a division cost 10 $, 1 conscript point and 5 war supplies.
You only pay the cost at turn end, so you can experiment with the interface creating and disbanding divisions... as long as you don't click end turn button you won't pay!
