I thought I knew my geography, but I don't.

Just picked up the title the other day at best buy as it seemed interesting. Going through the tutorial and it's naming places that for the life of me I can't find on the map.

Is there a search function on the game that will pin point a location like a city, or some other landmark?

Unfortunately, not yet. AGEod's development of their new game is also being used to improve the UI for this title, since they use the same engine. I wouldn't be suprised if a search function was added soon. In the meantime, there is a list on the wiki that will at least help locate regions by state, or you can ask here, response is usually fairly quick.

If you click on something in the message window, the map window will usually center on the spot where that event happened.

The other confusing thing which hurts most new players...I know it did me....is that in the message log, most of the time, events are located in "regions" and not cities. This is most likely because not every region on the map has a city.

So as Jabber mentioned...just click on the event and it will center your view on the correct region. Then just hover your mouse over each region...checking the top bar for the right one.

Good observation Banks, and that's how i learned some geography too...region and city, not just city. Thank God the log points to the unit-region...before finding that out i got lost so many times.... :)
