U.S.Grant

G'day folks, just playing the full campaign as the USA, and recently got a message saying Grant can be promoted, so the next turn I disbanded the corps he was commanding and try to promote him. The little promote icon was greyed out and next turn as well. Whats the go? Playing ver 1.9e.

Well I have promoted Generals that were Core leaders, and didnt need to disabnd the Core to promote a 2* General to a higher rank. To promote a general inside a Core, You only have to remove(drag and drop) that General form the core(and any units he command doesnt matter eg a Division) to a indenpedent force, then promote them. You cant promote a General in a stack, unless he is the leading General.

you have to promote him the turn you get the message - or you've missed your opportunity

Bugger, I will I get another chance? At the time I got the message, he was a little busy, I had him as a Corps Cmdr in a fight to take Nashville, it seems a bit tuff to have to withdraw him from a serious battle, just promote him, or lose the opportunity
